Bellwork: Practice new ch. 1.2 (part 2) vocabulary in Quizlet.com {quizlet link: http://quizlet.com/join/8DyxC95Tu (P.S.: choose Spanish II...vocabulary)}, or finish homework, which is copy 3x new vocabulary from chapter 1.2 (part 2) that is written on the board (10)

Hook: What did you do on the weekend? Did you shop & bargain?
Direct Instruction: Lecture on preterite of “-ar” verbs.
Guided Practice: Write 5 sentences that talks about the youtube clip on bargaining. Make sure to use “-ar” verbs, preterite, and vocabulary terms. Have volunteers write some of their sentences on the board and label the preterite as well as vocabulary terms. (10)
Independent Practice: Complete textbook p. 69 #10, but allow students to create their own responses without a partner. (5)
Enrichment: Option 1: Using preterite of “-ar” verbs, write 3-5 sentences explaining what you did during the weekend, or in the morning. Option2: on http://www.prensaescrita.com/ try to find an example in an online newspaper, or on http://www.elgancho.es/ using preterite of “-ar” verbs. Show me when find it.

- preterite occurs in the past & in a certain limited amount of time. EX: (verb-”hablar” [to speak/talk]: I talked about the objective. = Hablé sobre el objetivo.
- EX: “despertar” [to wake up]: Despertaste en la mañana.= You woke up in the morning.
- EX: “bailar” [to dance]: Él bailó porque el anillo era bello y no era demasiado caro.= He danced because the ring was beautiful and it was not too expensive.
- EX: “comprar” [to buy]: Él compró el anillo para su novia.=He bought the ring for his girlfriend.
