Spanish II Week of September 29th - October 3rd, 2014

Tuesday September 30th, 2014
Spanish II students are taking a field trip to the Hispanic Center of West Michigan today.
MI Dept. of Ed. World Language Standards met during this field trip will include:
1.1-engage in conversation in the target language
(tour guide will speak in both Spanish and English)
1.2-understand written and spoken communication in target language
(students will see posters, brochures and other materials in target language)
2.1-understand practices of the culture studied
(students will learn about the culture Latinos in our community through
resources offered by the Hispanic Center - especially parenting bi-cultural
children, immigration issues [anxiety], communicating and navigating the
public education system, and language services)
3.1-reinforce knowledge of other disciplines
(students will learn about the legal system, language classes, life skills)
3.2-acquire and recognize distinct viewpoints only available through the culture
(students will come to see why Latinos "do what they do")
4.2-understand the concept of culture by comparing Latino culture to their own
(students will naturally compare Latino culture to their own as their learn about
it and create context for the issues that they face)
5.1-use language beyond the school setting
(students will use Spanish at the Hispanic Center)
5.2-become lifelong learners by using language for personal enjoyment
(students will consider volunteer opportunities and will bookmark the website
for future needs)

Objective: Students will learn to use the indirect object pronoun via communication. 1.1 Students engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions.
Bellwork: Circle indirect object pronouns on “Querido Tommy” lyrics by Tommy Torres.
